Salvation
The fundamental gift of God is salvation. Do you want to live forever? Do you want to turn your life around and begin doing what is truly good? Do you want to know what it is like to be loved so completely and unconditionally that you need nothing else? The way to have these is by becoming a Christian. When you become a Christian, you are “saved”: you are rescued from death and hell, but most importantly you will live with the love of God in your very heart. God loved everyone so much, that He made it easy to be saved. All you have to do is have faith in His son, Jesus Christ.
If you haven’t already, follow these simple steps to attain salvation:
1. Believe in Jesus Christ
God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to come to earth and to live as a man and accept the punishment for sin on behalf of all people. When Jesus died on the cross and then was resurrected, He did so for everyone. Now, all anyone has to do to be saved is to believe that Jesus is God’s son and that He died on the cross to save you.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
"In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." John 4:10
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31
2. Confess your sin
Whether you can identify specific sins you have committed or not, the reality is that everyone sins. Admit to God that you are a sinner, and He will cleanse you of your sins.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
3. Live a renewed life
Now that you have been saved, you can enjoy a wonderful relationship with Jesus Christ. Start your relationship with Him by praying about anything and everything, reading the Bible (starting in the New Testament) to learn who He is and what your salvation and His love mean. Seek out Christian friends and Christian groups like a church or youth group. If you have been doing bad things, ask God to help you turn from them, and lean on your Christian friends for prayer and support, too. You can live a joyful and rewarding life knowing that God loves you with all of His heart!
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12
Do you want to be sure that you’re really saved? Pray this Prayer:
Dear God,
I confess I am a sinner.
I believe that you sent your son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross and to be resurrected so that I can have a new and eternal life.
Please come into my heart and save me.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray.
Amen
