Jody Stallings
Mr. Stallings is co-director of TBS. He is an 8th grade English teacher at Moultrie Middle School and an adjunct professor of English with the American Public University System. He received a BA and MA in English from the College of Charleston.
He has received several awards for excellence in teaching, including Charleston County Schools Teacher of the Year, Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year, CEA runner-up for National Educator of the Year, WCSC Golden Apple Award, American Public University Teaching Excellence Award, Teacher Leader of the Lowcountry, and certification by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. He has been recognized for excellence in teaching by such publications as Charleston Magazine, the Charleston Business Journal, and the Charleston Post and Courier. He is a recipient of the College of Charleston's Alumnus of the Year Award. He has been the director of Mt. Pleasant Teen Bible Study since 1998. He served as youth minister of Citadel Square Baptist Church from 2008 to 2017. He was ordained as a minister of the Baptist Church in 2004. He writes the weekly Teacher to Parent column for the Moultrie News for which he has received the South Carolina Press Association first place award for column writing. His short stories have been published in The Storyteller, The College of Charleston Magazine, and Lowcountry Writers. He is the author of the novel White Lake. He has a wife, Stephanie, and two children, Brevin and Bronte. He has lived in Mt. Pleasant all his life. |
Michelle Nichols
Mrs. Nichols is co-director of TBS. She has been a Charleston County educator since 2003. She teaches science at Moultrie Middle School. She received a BS in Elementary Education and an MED in Math and Science Education from the College of Charleston. She is certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and endorsed in the area of Gifted and Talented.
In her first year of teaching, she won the Rookie Teacher of the Year Award by Charleston County. She is the 2015 recipient of the Moultrie Middle School Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching. In 2018 she was named Teacher of the Year for Moultrie Middle School. Mrs. Nichols has worked with Mt. Pleasant Teen Bible Study since 2012. She has a husband, Chris, and two daughters, Madeline and Mackenzie. She has lived in Charleston all of her life. |
